Outdoor camping experiences motivated the Senior Scouts of Zamboanga del Norte National High School (ZNNHS) to continue their camping adventures and so joined the 31st Council-Wide Encampment on September 19-23, 2019 at Cogon, Eco-Park, Dipolog City. Among the nineteen (19) Senior Scouts sent by ZNNHS, three (3) came from Turno campus and sixteen (16) from the main campus. They joined the other senior campers of sub-camp 5 located at Cogon Elementary School in Cogon, Dipolog City.
ZNNHS Senior Girl Scouts survived to live outdoors under a dome tent; worked harmoniously as a team; surpassed various camp challenges; befriended others; appreciated nature; and learned to make quick and appropriate decisions. Their agility was very evident during the hike-out nature adventure and rope courses, as they were the first patrol who succeeded in such an exciting and full of fun obstacles. Their zealousness to learn, to lead and to explore made them receive these sub-camp awards: 3rd place (Campfire Presentation), First to Arrive (Obstacle Challenge), Most Energetic Group, Most Jolly Group, 3rd Place in Ham Radio Challenge (1st batch), 1st place in Ham Radio (3rd batch) and 3rd Runner-up in Miss Girl Scout of the Philippines (GSP).
The great outdoor learning experience of these senior scouts would have never been that exciting and satisfying without the incessant guidance and efforts extended by the ZNNHS OIC-School Principal Adrian G. Refugio and the School’s GSP Coordinator Israeli M. Cuizon (HT-I-Science Department) together with the non-teaching personnel headed by Mario T. Ansing (HT- III, TVE Department). Likewise, the financial help received from the scouting fund of GPTA through its ever-supportive President Peter M. Cuenca and Treasurer Jona Icalina enabled the girls to stay in their camp with much ease and comfortability. The myriad of support poured in for the senior scouts has had a huge impact on their memorable girl scouting adventures.
