Zamboanga del Norte National High School hosted the 2019 Division-Wide Camp on September 6–8, 2019 at Zamboanga del Norte National High School (ZNNHS) Turno campus. Campers of public  and private schools throughout the City Division participated in the three-day camp. The camping activities were riveted on its theme “70 Years of Scouting Adventures and Empowering Girls”.

Camp Director Israeli M. Cuizon formally welcomed all campers, staff, and guests to the event during the opening ceremony held at ZNNHS covered court. The Division GSP Coordinator/PSDS Vilma C. Velasco inspired the campers as she shared how the camping experience could shape young girls to become empowered and great leaders. Armie Gay C. Bagatua, Zamboanga del Norte Council Executive, graced the event with her presence.

Campers flaunted their leadership skills in the various camp challenges as they vied for the top spot. The activities included outdoor cook-out challenge, knot-tying, Miss GSP, obstacle challenge, clash of talents, jungle breakfast hunt, clean-up drive, best camp layouts, and best camp gadgets.

The conduct of Campfire and Scout’s Own ceremonies highlighted the encampment as these were among the most important ceremonies in the girl scout camp. Aside from the competitions and ceremonies, a workshop for “Hand-Held Radio Orientation” and “Self-Defense” was taught to all campers by DX8ZAC-Zanorte Amateur Radio Club, Inc. and PNP officers. Moreover, the ingenuity of the adult leaders and central staff was exhibited during “Titas’ Night”.

The ZNNHS campers received multiple awards and recognition such as Most Organized Patrol, Best In Creativity, Best in Plating in Nachos Dish, 3rd Place in Cooking, 1st place in the 4th Round in Morse Code-Ham Radio, 3rd Place in the 5th Round in Morse Code–Ham Radio, Miss GSP 2019 (senior category), and The Biggest Delegation with 80 senior campers. Aside from these awards, good virtues displayed by campers were also recognized during the event. Honesty was very evident when some campers returned others’ belongings they had found. This simple act conformed to the Project W.A.T.C.H. (We Advocate Time Consciousness and Honesty) which the ZNNHS institution has always been conscientious about.

Being the head of the host school, ZNNHS OIC-School Principal Adrian G. Refugio extended his full support to the encampment by providing the necessary equipment and facilities. In his collaboration with the central staff, ZNNHS school personnel, Dipolog City Division personnel and other agencies such as the Bureau of Fire Protection and PNP, the school successfully carried out the three-day camp.
