The girls in green, widely known as the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) of Zamboanga del Norte National High School (ZNNHS) once again showed their leadership and versatility during the conduct of the 7th GSP School-Based Encampment at Turno Campus on August 22 – 23, 2019. The girl scouting revolved around the theme “GSP: Resilient, Accountable and Productive”.
The encampment officially commenced at five in the afternoon with registration and tent pitching. The opening ceremony began at six in the evening, where the School GSP Coordinator Israeli M. Cuizon greeted all the campers with a warm welcome message. Senior High School Assistant School Principal II Dexter A. Elumba was also present at the said event to inspire campers to become empowered and responsible individuals.
The encampment featured various challenging activities intended to bring out the leadership and versatility of the girl scouts. These activities allowed them to test their survival skills, develop interpersonal attributes, inculcate patriotism, and enhance whatever uncharted potential they may have within. It also showcased personality development in Ms. GSP 2019 competition and a Campfire Ceremony that served as the highlight of the camp. On top of it, a set of obstacle challenges were also given to measure the toughness, resourcefulness, patience, a sense of responsibility and accountability of the girls which made their experience a lot more exciting. The GSP also paid tribute to the environment by conducting a clean-up drive around the school.
Generally, the 7th GSP School-Based Encampment was a resounding success and would go down in the memory of every participating senior girl scout as a worth remembering one. The commitment of the Senior Girl Scouts who served as staff and facilitators was very evident. Furthermore, the GSP Adult Leader’s expertise in guiding girls toward becoming well-rounded citizens with values and characters worthy of emulation was highly commendable. Needless to mention, the full support of OIC-School Principal Adrian G. Refugio whose presence throughout the opening program, up to the last minute of it, underpinned the event.
